In October 2025, two high school seniors from Minnesota launched TogetherIV, an app designed to connect infusion patients across the country. Co-founders Luke Wachowiak and Logan Bracken were inspired by Wachowiak’s own experience as an infusion patient and recognized the need for an accessible community outlet.
In 2022, Wachowiak was diagnosed with dermatomyositis, an inflammatory autoimmune condition that attacks the body’s tissues and can cause muscle weakness and skin rash. Since then, he has received monthly home infusions lasting five hours each to treat the symptoms. It was during one of these monthly infusions that he had a realization which led to the creation of TogetherIV.
“The moment it really clicked was in the middle of a long infusion when I realized how many people were sitting in the exact same situation, but everyone was still alone,” said Wachowiak. “Even with supportive friends, none of them really ‘got’ it, and that’s when I knew there had to be a better way to connect patients in real time.”
That’s when Wachowiak reached out to his friend, Bracken, and the two started to brainstorm ideas for a solution. They met over the summer to ideate what the solution would be and its primary functionality, which was largely based on Wachowiak’s experiences and his own desires as a patient.
They decided on an app because of its accessibility and ease-of-use when receiving treatment compared to a website. “The goal was not a complicated platform, just a simple, low-commitment way to feel connected during infusions through chat and games.”
Once they had solidified the basis of the app, Wachowiak and Bracken began surveying other patients and healthcare professionals for thoughts and suggestions.
Ultimately, they landed on a selection of multi- and single-player games like checkers, Battleship/Sink the Ship, Connect Four/Four Across, and trivia; a forum where patients can share and receive tips, coping strategies, and suggestions; a live treatment lobby for users to interact with other patients currently receiving therapy; and resources to help comfort and ease anxiety during infusions.
“We wanted to build a real-time space where patients could hang out, play games, and support each other during treatment. Our goal is to make infusion therapy feel less lonely and, ultimately, more normal,” said Wachowiak and Bracken.
Despite the additional responsibilities of entering their senior year of high school, Wachowiak and Bracken remained dedicated to their new project. With the help of Bracken’s passion for computer science and knowledge of coding, they designed the overall experience and many of its integrated features before bringing on a small team of developers to finalize the app.
Security & Privacy
TogetherIV is designed for the infusion community and provides users with opportunities to chat and connect, and its co-founders put security and privacy first. The app is not HIPAA certified, but includes numerous safety measures to ensure proper usage.
“There is a built-in system that filters swear words from the chats, and because we do not include any microphones or video-based services in TogetherIV, the opportunity for abuse and privacy violations decreases substantially,” said Bracken. “Luke and I are in TogetherIV constantly, and we regularly monitor the app. Finally, per our privacy policy, user data is kept secure in our 3rd-party database, and we do not sell or share it.”
Since TogetherIV was released in October 2025, the app has seen nearly 500 users—and counting.
“Creating TogetherIV turned one of my biggest challenges into something I’m proud of, and it makes my infusions feel more doable knowing it’s helping other people too,” Wachowiak said.
Accessing TogetherIV
“We never want money to be a barrier for someone seeking a community during their infusion,” said Wachowiak and Bracken. “We strongly believe in building a community for everyone in need, regardless of their financial situation.”
TogetherIV can be downloaded and accessed for free from the App Store or Google Play. It was recently featured as one of the “Best New Apps” by Apple App Store editors, and since its release in October 2025 has surpassed 2,000 downloads.
The Future of TogetherIV
While the app is officially live, Wachowiak and Bracken aren’t done with it quite yet. “We have so many future goals for TogetherIV, but our current short-term goal is to expand TogetherIV as much as possible so it can continue to reach more communities and, hopefully, help more people feel less isolated during their infusions. In the long term, we want to continue “squashing bugs,” add more games, improve the overall UI and user experience, and continue making it easier for patients to feel connected.”
They also hope to attend a selection of upcoming tradeshows and conferences for the infusion community, such as the 2026 National Infusion Center Association (NICA) Conference in Las Vegas this July.
What’s next for the co-founders?
As they approach graduation, there are many opportunities for these two co-founders.
Wachowiak hopes to attend the University of Michigan or Indiana University and pursue a degree in finance with a minor in computer science or artificial intelligence. He feels building Together IV has helped prepare him for college and new challenges. “I feel really good going into college with this experience because we’ve learned a lot about real-world risks, challenges, and coordination.”
Bracken hopes to attend either the University of Michigan or Boston College and pursue a degree in political science. “TogetherIV has taught me arguably more than any class could have, and I am beyond excited to carry the experience with me as I continue to grow and learn.”
When asked what TogetherIV means to them and how it feels knowing that their creation is making a difference to infusion patients across the country, both Wachowiak and Bracken expressed appreciation for the challenges they faced making the app and everything it’s taught them.
“I cannot put into words how proud I am of the product we’ve made,” said Bracken. “Seeing our app become available to the public and hearing success stories of how our service has connected patients who otherwise wouldn’t have, feels amazing, and I am excited to see how TogetherIV continues to grow.”
